The Stone and Crow Cheese company is the culmination of twenty years of passion and skill development in the cheese making industry.
A chance encounter in 2000 with two French cheesemakers, whilst travelling in India, introduced Jack to a bourgeoning interest in making cheese. Jack left India to hike in Alaska and ended up working at an organic dairy in the backcountry of Canada. This was his first taste of cheese making and Jack knew he was onto something he loved. In 2001 Jack moved back to Australia and landed in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. Here he started making cheese at the award winning Yarra Valley Dairy, in time, becoming the head cheese maker. Jack went on to win the award for Innovation in Cheese in Australia in 2013 which allowed him to take his family on a tour of France, visiting friends in the cheese trade in small villages, catching up with the mates he first met in India.
The Stone and Crow Cheese Company began in 2015, with their first cheese, Moonshine, created during the midnight hours whilst Jack worked full time during the day. In 2019 Jack went full time into the Stone and Crow Cheese Company.
“Stone and Crow is a combination of our family names. Crow is mischievous and cheeky, while Stone is rock solid. It’s about creating cheese that is adventurous and reliable.
We make sure we’re having fun making cheese. We create products that bring people together. We love food, and we love sharing that with friends and family.”
